Filch It Friday: My Bucket List

I’m filching today from Clayjack who filched from Mighty Girl and from CEO Mum who filched from my friend Karen and there you have the beauty of a meme within a carnival! All of these people came up with inspiring lists of things they’d like to accomplish before kicking it, which included learning a language, becoming an astronaut, and starting an elementary school. Let me remind you before you read my list that I am shallow and set the bar very low for myself:

Find my signature hairstyle and stick with it.

Buy Turbo Jam exercise video and actually use it at least 25 times before hiding it under the den couch.

Appear on a commercial for Turbo Jam.

Renew my vows with Nathan and have a huge reception before I’m so old I look like this at the alter.

See an honest, ethical, inspiring, believable candidate become president of my country and then see him/her prove him/herself with action.

Purchase my very last pack of diapers before I’m in them myself.

Drink another pint in Ireland.

Drink another pint in London.

Drink another pint.

Skinny dip again.

Stay in love.

Get a hair makeover by Andre (which may accomplish #1). You know who he is.

See my children fulfilled.

Visit Karen’s elementary school.

Meet some more of my favorite bloggers without having to drive 5000 miles alone in a Saturn.

Beat Nathan at a game. ANY game.

Live in a house with a finished basement and a garage.

Solve world hunger and find a cure for cancer. (What the hell!)

Ooh, I didn’t even think of #1, but that would definitely be on my list! That, and I’d like to join you in those pints in Ireland, England, and, well heck, anywhere.

Also just read your supernanny post and I elect you the new supernanny. Your approach is healthy and teaches mutual respect. Hers, as you said, is all about who has the power over what. Very scary to think about what message she taught that little girl about her relationship to food. Very scary indeed…

I really wanted to do Filch It Friday today, but my toddler experienced napus interruptus and my dreams and goals evaporated.

I’m not sure if I should admit this, but sometimes when I lift weights or do time on the treadmill, I watch the turbojam showmercial.

I’ve tried to do the hip thrust thing she does in the commercial (”working the ‘pooch’ area,” as she says), but I swear it makes me look like a monkey in heat.

Thanks for your post on my blog.

It is tough for high school kids applying to college this year, there are so many rejection stories.

Hope your babysitters will find a solution, if they explore the gap year thing they might find it quite exciting. I spoke to an admissions officer at Princeton and he told me how much they encourage the year to explore the away from home. It helps the kids to grow and adds something else to their resume which may make them an attractive admit for the next years class.

Check this out http://www.kingsacademy.edu.jo/default.asp?contentID=706 It is very different and may not appeal to all but you will notice there are US hs kids who are there and with their new language skills and cultural experience they will add to the diversity of any college class.

That certainly is a great list. Usually David beats me at anything we play, which is why I delightedly bring up the one bowling match when I kicked his ass. I even went so far as to take a picture of the scoreboard.
